Therapies

The main therapies I am trained in and utilize are:

I am an Accredited Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist. EMDR is psychotherapy to resolve past trauma and current triggers in people’s lives. It is considered one of the most efficient trauma therapies currently being used. EMDR has long been used to treat people with post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression, but has been shown to have benefits for all people. I am a member of the EMDRAA Institute https://emdraa.org/.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is primarily a treatment for Borderline Personality Disorder, however, it is now found that this therapy is helpful for anyone experiencing emotional dysregulation.   This is a cognitive behaviour therapy that provides practical skills to manage emotional dysregulation, increase your capacity to tolerate distress and be able to communicate more effectively with others. DBT utilises mindfulness to increase self-awareness, creating more choices and allowing you to feel more in control.

I am also clinically trained in other evidence-based behavioural therapies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Schema Therapy.
